Can anyone explain what goes on in Paris Hilton's mind? First she authorizes the mass release of her sex tape and she happily purchases a copy with cameras flashing, then she tries to stop a video store from selling it, and finally, she steals a copy. Huh?

The baffling incident occurred at Swing News on Sunset Boulevard in L.A. on December 15th. The dingbat heiress popped in to buy some celebrity magazines, but when she saw that the store was hawking her Rick Salomon-helmed masterwork, she "went from nice to nuts instantly," says a clerk.

Although the DVD itself was hidden away from view, Paris spied a promo poster on the side of an ATM in the shop and began tearing it to shreds. She then regained enough composure to pay for her magazines, but "reached across the desk and snatched the DVD out of its hiding place," the clerk said. "She stuffed it into her purse and declared, 'I'm taking this and I'm not paying for it.'" He then called the police and filed a victim's report for theft and vandalism.

Paris's reasoning for the incident? She was allegedly concerned some of her young fans who shop at Swing News might see it and get the wrong impression of her. But did anyone ever have the right impression of her?
